Thick walls of natural stone keep the heat out and the interior of Villa Luna has been equipped with all modern conveniences, including a large modern kitchen. The two bathrooms are very modern and are equipped with a shower stall and a beautiful bathtub. A spacious living room with an open fireplace is located on the first floor where you can enjoy a good glass of wine in front of a crackling evening fire if you so desire.
One of the most southern cities of Croatia, Dubrovnik is a mediaeval city with a historic centre on the Adriatic coast. The old city walls were built between the 13th and 16th centuries. You can go for a fantastic walk along this old city wall and visit all of its sixteen towers. Quite unique. The fact that Dubrovnik has been included in Unesco's World Heritage List since 1979 demonstrates that Dubrovnik is something special. The old fort in this old car-free city is also renowned. You will recognise the tower immediately, which is used as a symbol of the city and from its heights offers a beautiful view. The wall itself is over 2 kilometres long, in some places almost 25 metres high and is over 6 metres thick.
In the summer, Dubrovnik is the scene for a large summer festival, but the city also has more than enough to offer in the other seasons. Dubrovnik has many museums worth visiting. Take a look in Knežev dvor, the old seat of government for the Dubrovnik Republic. Coins, furniture, weapons and stamps are part of the collection.
Playing a sport is almost a national business in Croatia. You name it and they have it. Tennis and basketball are immensely popular but water polo is also growing. You will notice the passion that Croatians exhibit in their sport while attending a game and enjoying sportsmanlike conduct. Or hit a ball yourself of course. There are numerous courts available.
Lokrum is an island just off the coast of Dubrovnik. The island is a national park, has a nudist beach, a botanical garden and you can visit the ruins of a mediaeval Benedictine monastery. The island is easily accessible by ferry from Dubrovnik's harbour.
One of Croatia's national parks is located on the island of Mljet, nicknamed 'The green island'. You will find beautiful salt lakes and forests in this northern section. The pearl-white beaches of the southern part of the island can be enjoyed at no charge. You can book a daytrip to Mljet from Dubrovnik. Would you like to stay longer? A ferry to Mljet leaves from the harbour of Dubrovnik.
